oil pressure
My oil pressure gauge has been running very low. Can anyone tell me what the normal operating range is? Thank you. 2000 blazer 4.3 v6

Rule of thumb is a 1/4 gauge or more at idle and 3/4 gauge at 3000 RPM. But better to put a manual test gauge on it and see what the actual pressure is. Post back pressure with a manual test gauge.

Re: oil pressure
if you want to use the dash guage as a reference, oil psi is usually 25-35 at idle and 40-50 under load. this is with the engine up to temp. if you want to know the true reading, use a mechanical guage like MT said.

Re: oil pressure
Thank you for the information. I don't have an oil pressure tester, but I am planning on getting one soon.

That is the only true test Dash gauge is only a electrical Indicator and sending units can go bad. Another note if you are not using a AC delco oil filter get one and see if it improves oil presure. Let us know how it goes.
