Bad Idle
Ok so my car is acting up and i'm not sure what is wrong. The idle fluctuates up and down anywhere from 2500-500. Sometimes when I start it up it will idle real fast and drop to 0. It seems like it makes a fight to stay going but it just dies. If i hold the gas down to keep it at 2500 or higher RPM for a few sec it seems to be fine after that. I searched a little and narowed it down... I think. I checked the MAS and it apeared fine to me. I sprayed some WD-40 in the throttle body to clean it out, and it is clean. Could it be teh ISC/IAC, or the TPS? Where are they located at and is their a way I can check to see if they are fine??

Re: Bad Idle
Try throttle body/carb cleaner into the throttlebody, WD-40 will run into the engine making things worse for your idle I thinks. The carb cleaner is like $2 a can and you can get it anywhere, also VERY flamable. I forget which but there are one or more hozes that are around the throttle body that you can spray it in too that get various valves etc cleaned. If you spray a lot it can go down into your engine but as long as its not full of gunk from the throttle body it will clean your engine up to your throtttlebody (it may make starting the car a little harder but just let it turn over a few times rest and do it again and it will eventually clear it out and start). I need to do this too as my idle is dropping a bit low.

Re: Bad Idle
IAC. I tried cleaning mine and it worked for a while but then it started acting up again. I bought a used one of ebay for $1.25 and so far so good. You might wanna try buying the new black ones. I don't know the model number but it's all one peice (not two like the tan ones) and it's a direct fit. I hear the old tan colored ones have a factory defect in them.

Re: Bad Idle
Yea there's a few sellers that get them from wrecked talon's, eclipses, stealth's, 3000gt's... you name it. They sell them for dirt cheap. Figured it couldn't hurt, and it sure as hell didn't.
