1996 GMC Blown V6

I am having a hard time finding a replacement motor. Will a 5.0 liter fit and bolt to the standard trans. What about wiring and computer? Any help at all would help.

Just curious, was your G.M. V6 that blew the Vortec 4.3?

Mine blew in my 1992 Astro while pulling a tent trailer over the Donner Summit of I-80 in California. The darn motor threw two rods clean out the bottom of the oil pan in a horrendous explosion.

Cost me $5,000.00 to put in a replacement, G.M. Goodwrench 4.3 V6.

I took good care of the motor too. Changed the oil every 3,000 miles with Castrol GT too. She was pulling a steep grade in second gear near Blue Canyon, East Bound on the Donner Summit grade of I-80 in the California Sierra Nevada Mountain range.

There was a hole in the bottom of the oil pan the size of a soft ball, where the pieces of pistons and rods exited. Pieces of broken and bent rods were scattered all over the freeway as well as an oil slick many feet long.

Just wondered how your G.M. V6 blew, and if it was the same motor. Mine was the 200 horsepower "W" series engine. It was the highest horsepower version Vortec 4.3 V6 that was ever offered in the Astro(1992).
