Couldn't believe what a difference an intake made for my GT!

Okay. So my '93 3kGT needed a clean air filter for a while, but I was busy with other stuff, so kept postponing it. I ordered an Injen kit a while ago and it just sat in my bedroom for weeks (just like all my other car parts).

The GT is an old car with 160,000 miles on it...looks like whoever had it before me drove it pretty rough, since the interior isn't exactly sexy and the paint is fading, etc. The car would sometimes shut off during a few seconds of initial cold-morning start up idling, and the RPMs would surge every now and then. Also, one thing I noticed, was that when starting it up cold, the RPMs never shot up to 1.5K - 2K RPM, like most cars...they instead just sat at very sluggish 850ish. I figured it was the idle control, fuel pump, or something else. Didn't even think about the most basic thing, the damn air filter.

I finally got off my lazy ass and installed this thing today (holidays, yay!), and holy shit. My car drives like new, Ijust can't believe how much difference a clean air filter made. I have rock solid idle RPMs, and the motor idles at 2K RPM during a cold start up, before gradually coming down. The car warms up twice as quickly now too (associated directly with the start-up RPMs I guess).

So yeah. I learned my lesson. That's probably why I was getting sucky gas mileage all that time too!

Sweet dseal. There is a 94 3000 black VR4 TT at a local dealer here. Tan leather, no fades, rips or anything. Stick. 80k miles. They want 10,000 for it. I'm oging to try to test drive it this week on one of my off days. I want one so bad.

Who would have thought, routine maintence actually makes the car run better!

Believe it or not, the car is a steal at that price. Where else can you buy a mint 320 hp car with AWD? Come up with the money man, you won't regret it. I wish that car was closer to me, I would find a way to sell my car and come up with loan money or something.

Definitely a steal, car should be going for close to 15k if it's in as nice of condition as you say, especially at a dealer, those aren't cars you come by on an everyday basis. Either there is something major wrong with it that they aren't telling you about, or the dealer is an idiot.

Re: Couldn't believe what a difference an intake made for my GT!

I'm going to check it out on Friday during the day and test drive it. I'm not going to buy it though. Don't have the money for it. I won't buy a car unless I need one, like if mine is trashed or something. Plus, I have to pay for this last semester of school here, so I'll be kinda low on funds. I can't wait to drive it though.

Here's the link to it. My guy from work called asking about how low he'll go. He's thinking of buying it, and then selling to me. I can make payments. lol. I'm sure insurance is high as hell for it though, and I'm already paying insurance on 2 cars. I think we're checking it out tonight.

Someone interested in it? Could deliever!

I know it says automatic, but it's a 6-speed manual. I've seen that with my own eyes.

If its a 6 speed it has to be at least a 94 since thats the first year for that tranny

Re: Couldn't believe what a difference an intake made for my GT!

They must not want to waste their time with such an old car, because if they actually put a little time into their description of the car and list that it's a VR4 with a 6 speed that thing would be gone already at the price they are asking. The one pic looks good though.
