Trans Modulator

After doing a bit of research, I think I may need a new trans modulator. The symptoms my car is having are - banging into reverse, sometimes it's worse than others, and hard shifting from 1st to 2nd. The first thing I did of course was check the fluid which was fine.
My question is, right about the same time the hard shifting started my car began to idle rough. Not consistently though. It will idle just fine, then get real lopey almost stalling but it'll catch itself and idle fine again. This happens while in Park and sitting at a stop intermitently. Are the two problems related?

Thanks for any advice.

For the transmission to work right the engine has to be running right.
Fix engine running first.
Modulator valve is not going to help muck on reverse.
It controls the pressure more on up shifting.
On a normal take off what is the 1-2 2-3 3-4 up shift MPH speeds?

Re: Trans Modulator

Check your modulator for a vacuum leak first.

Even two car just alike may have different problems.
What may fix the Gander may not be good for the Goose.
Start a new post on yours and some one may be able to help.
And give all info like.
Tips on getting a good answer to your questions.
People trying to answer your question do not have a crystal ball.
So give them all of the info you have like year make and model and engine and transmission and mileage.
Also cars engine and transmission service history or any recent repairs or problems.
Also a description of your problem and what it is doing or not doing.
If you have codes give up the code no.
And remember a code does not say replace the part but only points to the problem that you have to check out.
So to better help you give up all of the info you have on it.
