Gorillachipz ???

You can find Gorillachipz on ebay for very cheap. They are claiming to add up to 60 horse power to some cars. They are just little plug n play chips you connect to your ecu. Sounds too good to be true. Any knowledge about those?

Re: Gorillachipz ???

A waste of time. Your car cannot be chipped. All it does (and someone correct me if I'm off) is make your car run rich.

Re: Gorillachipz ???

They make your car run in open loop, much like when your car is warming up, which runs richer....you will lose gas mileage and see no power gain

Re: Gorillachipz ???

yes, they are very bad, they cause the computer to push more fuel into the engine, but since the engine has nothing to burn that extra fuel, it just ends up clogging your injectors like a MOTHER FUCKER, you WILL notice a loss of power within a month or 2....

lol...sadly yes. i got this article directly off their site...

"The Tweaked Performance Control Module easily, and ingeniously, wires inline with the factory harness of the IAT sensor and increases engine performance by modifying the input signals to the vehicle's existing computer to deliver optimum performance gains throughout the low and midrange of the vehicle's power-curve. This kit eliminates the costly parts and tedious installation of ECU components while still producing the performance gains you want and expect. The module works in conjunction with your cars stock ECU and install can be completed within a matter of minutes."

see, i was thinking of buying that "tweaked", but now that I realize, im not getting it. simple as that. idc if its gonna raise HP if its gonna damage the engine. but newayz...i found this chip that I will probably buy if I keep hearing positive things about it like in the reviews on this site. The "Venom 400"! tell me wut yall think of it...

(im also going to post this on the main cavi page asking what ppl think)

Re: Gorillachipz ???

heres a good rule of thumb....if it comes from Ebay, there is a 99.98% chance that it is a waste of money. This is especially true for turbo kits and performance chips

Re: Gorillachipz ???

well regardless of whether or not its on Ebay, you need to have certain modifications done to your car in order to justify paying $300 for a "chip." You would be much better off getting a dry nitrous kit because you're not going to make any power from a chip unless its specifically tuned for your car...
