suspension problem

my rear passenger side makes some kind of a noise like metal with metal grinding every time i hit a bump. when i do hit a bump it sounds like if it slams as hard as it can does any one know what the problem maybe

do you have those rubber spring caps on? the ones that center your spring at all times, I forget what they're called, if not check to see if your spring is seated evenly in the upper spring cup, or do you even have your upper rubber sping cup in? sorry, these sound like stupid questions, but trust me, ive seen it done, then the spring will sit in the cup cock-eyed and rub on the inside of the cup whenever you hit a bump or such, like an irritating metal on metal sound.
