The next performance car after the GT?
I hope Ford builds the Shelby GR-1. Carroll Shelby rejoined Ford in the summer of 2003.
The Ford Shelby GR-1 reminds me of the Shelby Daytona Coupe. Only six Shelby Daytona Coupes were built. Notice the air intake of both the Shelby Daytona Coupe and the Ford Shelby GR-1. From the 1964 Goodwood Tourist Trophy. Phil Hill and Dan Gurney drove these race cars. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dan Gurney drove this very Shelby Daytona Coupe. ![]()

Re: The next performance car after the GT?
I think the GR-1 definately has potential as a production car. I mean, Ford could, at the very least, make it hanbuilt or limited run and only build them to order so they dont experience heavy overstock like the GT. I dunno much about the GR-1 that would influence price, but would $250K be unreasonable?

The Shelby GR-1 would use a lot of parts from the mid engine Ford GT if it were built. This would help with costs.
The GT doesn't have a heavy overstock. Last edited by Jaguar D-Type; 04-06-2006 at 07:05 PM. |

The GR-1 could go into production as a 2008 model.
