Probably the dog bone mount on top has worn out bushings, set parking brake, hold foot brake with you on edge of seat with open drivers door, hood up, peer around windshield.thru under hood and watch engine as you shift from drive to reverse, if it rocks a LOT, prob that mount bad. may need to give it a little gas when looking, and after going into drive or reverse.
Check advanceautoparts.com for upper engine mount, should least see what it looks like and a price if ther eisnt any advance near you

Re: Motor mounts or tranny?

I tried what you said and the motor jumps quite a bit more when puttin it reverse(also its really the gear the jerking happens) and it seems to jump forward all other gears seem to move the engine slighty back....so dog bones still or something else thanks 93lumina

Re: Motor mounts or tranny?

The roll restrictors are the only thing that controls the motor flipping front to back....they are like $12 each and take ten minutes to change...why are you overthinking it?

That's the dog bones you are talking about. They are also called torque struts, that's what the parts stores officially call them.

They just unbolt and bolt in, if you have any trouble lining up the holes, just rock the car slightly and the motor will pitch and you can shove the bolt through as it does....
