My MSPaint is broken

The version of MSPaint on my home computer has no option to save pics in the .jpg format. It's the Windows Millennium Edition version and I'm running WinME (yes, I know it sucks. )

What can I do to fix it? -or- Where can I get a better version of paint?

Thanks!

Mentel: Mine does
jay@af: I have no idea, you could try reinstalling it from the WME cd.
And if that doesn't work, I could send you the win2000 mspaint.exe file.

Mine does at work, too. That one is "Version 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 1)"

I've tried sending myself my own aforementioned mspaint.exe from work, but there are some .dll files that go with it that I'd need to track down... I was just looking for a simpler solution. Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know if I need it.

Have you tried uninstalling and installing it again?
[Add Remove Programs -> Windows Setup Tab -> Accessories icon.]

Paint can save in many formats if windows understands them. If you have a copy of office, reinstall it and select the conversion formats. Its in there and all the MS products will now understand the formats you pick.

Version 5.xxxx is the NT kernel version, which version 5 is the XP version.

Windows 2000 and higher supports saving of jpeg in ms paint, but any version lower it doesn't.

So all windows 9x n ME doesn't support saving of jpeg format.

As far as I know, jpg and gif support was implemented in MSPaint when Windows 95 SE was released, along with USB support and other funky stuff.

Yes only newer revision of the window software has those file support implemented, but I think there's an option to download it from the windows update site, but I'm using XP for better memeory management and stability because I'm running a network, and less hessels too. SO I wouldn't know if its available for download or not.
