WIP: Customer's Bigblock 1956 Chevy

Here's one I need to have done before Christmas: Mostly stock '56 Chevy, except for a big block swap. Colour will be Tamiya White and Dupli-color Chrysler Violet Pearl (ya, that's purple--I didn't realize it either!)

White going on first, of course...

I have the same kit on my table.
Too bad you couldn't use a Bel-Air body for a more accurate replica, I might have one sitting around my parts box, that I plan to use.

Ya, unfortunately, the Bel Air is rather difficult to find, and the Del Ray's side trim is a bit different. The customer's aware of this though, and would rather not hunt around on ebay for weeks for the right one.

Having a Del Ray is better than having nothing at all.

Re: WIP: Customer's Bigblock 1956 Chevy

Some updates. The body's been painted and clearcoated, the top with GM Pure White and the bottom with Cranberry Pearl, not violet, sorry. Haven't polished it yet though. And yes, the purple's a little rough along the trim, but it's getting Bare-metal Foil over it anyway, so you won't see any of that.

Engine's done except for the carb/air cleaner, still waiting for the customer to confirm what they are. Chassis complete, had to move the leaf springs inboard a little to fit those massive rear tires.

Interior's done, gunmetal grey, rear seat removed and sheet styrene in place of it (real car has no back seat.) Dash is body colour, gauges and clock were detailed with an art pencil. I borrowed (cough cough) the idea from proosen to use a dried baby wipe for the carpet instead of flocking--it's SO much easier and still looks quite good, I think.

That body is really gonna look great with the foil. Interior came out nice also.

Thank you brady, but as I said above, the car has to be done in like 5 days, and the customer knows this...

Re: WIP: Customer's Bigblock 1956 Chevy

Just a quick update, interior's complete, wanted to get a better shot to show the baby wipe carpeting... also added my own seatbelts and a 4 spd shifter up through the floor. I see the camera flash picked up some areas where the paint's bare on the seatbelts and whatnot, so I have some touching up to do still!

Second pic is with the chrome foiling done... god my fingers hurt... I should charge extra for foiling 1950s cars. It took forever. Sorry about the fingerprints, still needs a wax!
