P10 Carbon Fiber Hood

So far for I have counted 5 of us who want a P10 carbon fiber hood. 1 drockg20
2 AznVirus
3 nis.k.a
4 JG20
5 FlossinPrimera

Also if there anyone else who want a hood? Let me know. P11 carbon fiber is already made. So p11 owners stop replying to this.
The cost for hood is $400 plus shipping. Also we need 10 people to get this deal. Also i have two p10 hoods already so if they need a hood to make a mold i will donate mine. Another company is making the hoods not Fiber Image.

who is making the P11 hood? Fiber Images made the mold thanks to me.. if there is an alternative to them, let me know so I can see about getting another one in color. First I have to talk to them though and make damn sure they aren't going to screw this up like Fiber Images did my first one.

will the carbon fiber hood come with hood pins? or do we have to buy them for extra? how much will it cost? just wondering if we can get them in any other colors than black.

I'v got one more person from a different site, so that makes 6. Also, will the hood require pins or will it have the fiberglass underlay?

Well boys and girls (those of us with P11's) I found a shop locally in Orlando so we don't have to solely rely on the west coast manufacturer who so gracefully was not able to provide me with a decent hood that was worth the money spent. We went to the facility today and spoke the to people in charge and got some insight as to what they have done in the past. They were in the business of making composite parts in the aviation field and they have a full facility with pretty much everything you would want. They have C&C machines, CADD workstations and just about everything else. They have a great facility and at this point I have agreed to supply my OEM hood and we are going to give it another shot. They looked at my existing carbon hood and we are pretty confident they can make a better product. Also there is more flexibility with the colors as well. I do not know the cost yet but if you are expecting a $400 hood, this may not be the place. This isn't a bunch of guys in a garage working on fiberglass making hoods, this is a professional operation making high quality composite hoods, they have been in the business making composite parts that require much more scrutiny than the hood on a car so I am confident of the quality, and I will be local so I will be able to see the progress. After my experience with Fiber Images and their sidekick Andy Reyes who so tactfull left me hanging in the cold after taking my money.. I am happy to be there first hand to see the progress. On a sidebar.. I unbolted my touring wing so expect raplicas soon. I do see other parts being made in the near future, hell I will be donating anything I can to get it back in carbon. Email me if ??'s

-Henry

Do your fenders, and front bumper. A full carbon front end would be tight. I know Fiber Images makes fenders but only for the more popular cars.

I'm sorry i missed this post the first time around... i've been really busy lately. (had to register for UofA this semester and getting ready to move down to Tucson) But if you wait just a little while, Fiber Images will have a P10 hood available. It should be in the process of being developed now, but I don't know when it will be done. They are extremely busy right now, and as i understand it, it's a on-the-side project. Please do not call them about it, if you are interested and want more details I'll try and get them for you.
As far as fitment and quality, the hoods I have seen for the SE-R's have been top notch, and I've heard the same from almost everyone i've talked to about the hoods.

Well, much as I hate to differ, I have a hood that didn't come out well with plenty of flaws and I have the pics and anyone who cares to look at it that attends the NOPI nats can see it. They were made aware of the problems when I got the hood and neither Fiber Images or Andy Reyes did a sinlge thing to make good on it. Not my opinion, but fact.

I'm sorry to hear that. How did they screw up the hood? Was is a cosmetic flaw, or a manufacturing flaw? I'm just curious because my hood is currently over there. that really sucks. Also, did you use hood pins, or the windshield washer squirters? I'm thinking stock attachment (less steal-me showing, the better cause my car is gonna be parked on a University lot for the next couple years), and i'm thinking of using the windshield washer resevior to spray the radiator to help cooling (Arizona is hot as hell), or just removing everything for the additional weight savings. Thanks and good luck.

For starters, the hood latch was on the wrong side rendering it useless, I did not want to use hood pins. The fiberglass webbing to support the hood is quite thin and was cracked pretty good on one side. There is damage to the exterior of the hood in three places near the front where the fiber isn't cracked all the way through, but the top layer is damaged. The is a defect in the mold that has caused a 'dip' in the hood towards the driver side top. And last but not least, the hood sits about a half inch high on the hinges so it is in no way flush. There are cut-outs for the washers squirters but you have to drill them out yourself, same as the holes for the grille. Be VERY careful drilling the hood pins so you don't damage the hood. They were told of the damage literally after unpacking the box. I had called the person who sold it to me who was their middle man and supposedly their Q&A person and let them know and he supposedly called and another hood was being made and blah blah blah. All smoke man. My advice, pay with a credit card and make sure they insure the box. Inspect the hood as soon as it arrives and if there is so much as a fingerprint send it back and dispute it with your card, its the only way to protect yourself unfortunately from a company that does not back their product.

The sad part Henry is that I have seen your car on countless webpages that sell FiberImages hoods and they are using your car to show off the hood as if you endorse them!
