Trac Light on 1997 GP SE 3800

I'm havin an issue with the "Trac Off" light staying on, press the button an it stays lit. No other lights are on with it. Car seems to drive fine, nothing unusual. Haven't checked anything out yet, any ideas?

Re: Trac Light on 1997 GP SE 3800

Just to clarify I'm assuming you have no manual control over traction control and the TRAC OFF light is staying constantly on and will not turn off when the button is pressed again?

In most cases when this occurs the EBTCM module has detected a problem with the ABS/Traction Control system. When this happens the TRAC OFF light will stay lit. Normally to determine if a fault is present it should be be scanned with an ABS capable scanner to see if any chassis/abs codes are stored.

Could be the EBTCM module, wiring or even a wheel sensor out of spec.

Re: Trac Light on 1997 GP SE 3800

I too am having problems with my trac off light and the ABS light staying on. I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT. I have taken it into the shop. Codes C0236, C0090, and PO336 are what is coming up. The only problem they could find was bad corrosion on the battery cable ends. They replaced the bolts and the problem is still there. I am also having trouble with the RPM gauge, sometimes it just stops working..but there is no loss of power. Any ideas?

I had it checked last week no codes showing. I assumed it was a sensor also.

Was this done on a full function abs scanner and were you able to look at comparative wheel speed sensor inputs?
