Angry I'm Upset! (About my dealer and foglamp)

I have a 2004 Aveo Hatchback

One day my left foglamp died , I tried to fix it on my own by trying to pull out the bulb, but it's very difficult. Does anyone know how to take them out?

I kinda gave up on it, so I went to the nearest Chevy dealer in town. The took a peek on the foglamp and tried to fix it. It was quite fustrating for me cuz it took them almost half an hour just to pull out the bulbs. I was in a hurry so I got quite angry that time to the mechanic. How unprofessional they are. After they could pull out the bulbs, they told me. "Sorry sir, we're out of stock on these kind of bulb." Aaahgghhh!! After half hour of waiting, no result! I have to make an order an wait for a couple of days for the bulb.

Do any of you know what kind of bulb is it for the Aveo foglamp? How much do they cost?

Oh I'm going to have a field day with this one

First off, your vehicle came equipped with an OWNERS MANUAL..maybe you should spend some time and glance over it..lots of information....
Like this
To replace a fog lamp bulb, do the following:
Locate the fog lamp bulb socket by reaching under the front bumper.
Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the bulb socket.
Turn the bulb socket counterclockwise and remove it.
Install the new bulb.
Reverse Steps 2 through 3 to reinstall.

Re: I'm Upset! (About my dealer and foglamp)

you should be able to go down to your local auto parts store and ask them what kind of bulb you need. and im pretty sure you can look online for the parts you need as well. in fact you may be able to find some colored ones or just brighter ones. but i guess why are you really upset about a lightbulb? its not like it makes the difference in your 1/4 mile times or anything like that. just relax dude. its just a peice of glass with a wire filament in it. everything will be ok.

Now don't be getting pissed at this merlin this is the other side here, not all peeps can or have the ability to change such a deal.Point 1, it should not have taken a " Factory trained tech" half an hour to pop a bulb, hell a clean up kid could do it faster than that.Point 2,yep it happens, out of stock, but really,a bulb?Point 3 SERVICE,SERVICE,SERVICE.Where in the hell did the pride of the service go in todays world.I do the same crap as any other tech in this world does every day.Without that person coming in for even just a foglamp we don't have a job.Yep,we supply these people with a service that can not do themselves,if they could you and I would be doing drywall.Seriously, throw the tude aside, how long and how difficult is it to swap out a bulb?.3 as a min would be to much and that customer would be exactlly that,a customer for life.Been there done that.Yes all the respones where right, read the manual,it's only a fog light, whatever. It's still a service. That's what you signed up for.

Hold on skippy...lets look at this post.
1. I don't believe that everyone can work on a car..If they could, you and I would be out of a job.
Many customers and people on this forum fail to understand how their vehicles operate..even though they are given instructions..AKA the owners manual..they still ask the obvious questions...what ever happened to being able to figure something out by reading the instructions.
2. Just because some guy walked out of the service department of a dealer doesn't automatically mean they are a factory trained tech..who knows, it might have been the cleanup kid who looked at it.
If it was a factory trained tech (or me), I would have checked with the parts department first to see if the bulb was in stock prior to even crawling under their car...if my parts department didn't have it, I would give the customer some options....wait around for a few minutes while we see if we could pick one up for them or in the case of ddaru_chee ( who was in a hurry) I would show them how to replace the bulb and point them to the local AZ or offer once again to pick one up and install it at their convenience...either way, since the customer came in for such a simple part that we did not have, I would not have charged them for the part ( also reimburse them for the one they purchased) and would have offered them a free oil change for their inconvenience...How is that for customer service?
3. Most likely I doubt highly that it took a half hour for them to pull out a bulb...but my tude comes from the customer getting pissed at someone trying to help them and then calling them unprofessional.

Re: I'm Upset! (About my dealer and foglamp)

That's a great answer "skippy" lol, but that you at your dealership.I can tell you I live just 30 mins north of a town of 110,000 peeps, plus the village I live in even smaller, about 6,000 with one dealership in it.I can tell you that there is a hardcore need for that type of stuff here or even around here. The post that was laid out and the tude that was described is more the norm than not.If you treat your people like that than your not the average dealership. You have to look at it from the other side. The hard knocks that peeps get dealerships come from somewere. The customer just doesn't pull it out thier arse.I've got horror stories that would just make you die. Yes we could go on forever. As you said, let's look at the post. They tried to change the bulb(must have read the book),Off to the pro's,the pro took way to long, when the pro got it out, they didn't have it.Have a nice day sorry for your luck.Nice way to handle it.That is just not right.

Believe me dude I know all about the horror stories..I have heard many of them from customers..BUT many of those customers come to me with expectations that cannot be met. (perception concerns)
They think their car should operate a certain way and it is difficult to change their perception,,usually this comes from point of sale (my salesman or my mechanic said I could pull a 12000lb boat with my Aveo )
I believe that many of the horror stories about dealers arise from ideas about dealers 10-20 years ago. also form the point of sale (because the customer believes they paid too much) and when the customer comes to the service department, they believe they are going to be treated the same way.
Not all dealers are the same. We try our best to build a relationship with our customers from the moment of contact and do everything in our power to treat the customer right..and many other dealers do to..but you won't hear about them, all you are going to hear on the net and in person is the bad.
On average if someone has a good experiance they tell 1 maybe 2 other people,,if they have a bad experiance (or think they had) they will tell 10-15 other people.
Dealers live and die by the CSI index..which is the Customer Satisfaction Index...if a dealer has a lower than average CSI, then GM steps in and makes some corrections...which may include pulling the franchise agreement.
If dealers truely were "stealerships", why are they still in business?
Like I said before if you are happy, you really won't tell anyone..if you are pissed off, you tell everyone..just look here on AF

Wink Re: I'm Upset! (About my dealer and foglamp)

Hey, thanks a lot guys. I already get those foglamp fixed. And what an idiot, the manual book was the last thing that struck my mind. 'Bout that dealer, I went back yesterday to have an oil change, well its good for them they remembered me and gave me an apology, and installed me the new bulb, and the head mechanic showed me how to pull it out himself. But one thing, the replacement bulb is different than the original (but still it's a Daewoo genuine). The original one has an L shaped connector, and the replacement was straight and has a pointed bulb different from the original. But the ampere, voltage, and brightness are exact.

Re: I'm Upset! (About my dealer and foglamp)

y did they do up a different bulb and connection? that seems a bit odd. let me tell yall a lil story of my own. i was hearing a popping noise from the front passengers side and it worried me so i brought it to the closest dealership. they replaced a sway linkage saying it was worn out and retourqued my chassis. it was covered under warranty so no sweat. i was driving it home and suddenly i was coming to a stop when i heard the noise again. i was mad. i just spent 3 hours at the dealership for them to tell me it was fixed and find out its not. so i had to drive to another town to go to my gfs dads house. theres a dealership out there that i had been to before when i broke my shift fork on my tranny. i took it in and at first they werent even going to look at it because i had just brought it to another dealership and there was some warranty thing from on the work and parts they did. but i explained what had happened and how i did not plan to return to that dealership anymore. so they took me in and replaced some kind of bushing and sumtin else i cant remember what it was tho. then they told me that there was nothing even wrong with my linkages to begin with. they fixed everything under warranty and ever since then there has been nuthing wrong with my car. and while i was waiting they let me test drive a 2006 subaru wrx sti with a 6 speed tranny. that was cool shit.

Re: I'm Upset! (About my dealer and foglamp)

I don't know exactly why they change the model of the bulb and connection, they just told me that they're new parts from Daewoo in Korea. Well it doesn't really matter cuz it fits properly, but honestly, it's a little harder to pull out cuz it's just straight, it's easier to turn and pull out the old "L" type bulb connection.

Well, you can't put too much hope on your dealer. One of the best way is to do it yourself or learn something from this forum! Haha..
