transmission for 1989 chevy suburban
I HAVE A 700R TRANSMISSION ON 1989 SUBURBAN 1500 THAT WILL GO INTO REVERSE BUT SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN WHEN PUT IN DRIVE ,WHAT CAN I DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM , I TOOK THE DRY SHAFT OFF AND IT SHIFTED WITH NO PROBLEM AND THE ENGINE STAYED RUNNING, COULD IT BE THE TORQUE CONVERTER

At the driver side front of the transmission case, just above the oil pan, you'll find the TCC solenoid plug. Unplug it, go for a ride and see what happens. If it runs better, the TCC solenoid is shot. Do it yourself or having it fixed is not a big job.
