I want my tv and recorded movies back, but ever since I updated wmp, media center 2005 has an internal error. How do I fix it? thanks

Do a system restore to before you installed the new version.

What do you expect man, it's not magic. If you do the restore like Oz said, all your still will return and you can try the update again.

Or you could install an alternative media player like VLC and use that instead.

Re: Media Center crash after wmp update

With WMP.....if it ain't broke...don't fix it....really applies.

It seems like every update of WMP makes it more cumbersome, complex and buggy.

Re: Media Center crash after wmp update

v11 or whatever the latest is (not the one that comes with XP) isn't too bad if you have the right CODECs installed. A couple of quirks, but overall not to bad.

Re: Media Center crash after wmp update

Okay well I haven't watched tv in a couple weeks, the program now says I no longer have a TV tuner... and it's starting to piss me off, so:

I have a few ideas, install the previous version of wmp, install the newest version of wmp (because the update I did was somewhere in the middle, since it keeps asking me to update)

Use VLC or The Core Media Player, BUT how do I change out wmp for these programs? Right now I'm going to install wmp10 again

Re: Media Center crash after wmp update

I'm flabbergasted by what just happened, I got ANOTHER wmp update for wmp11 and NOW media center works and I have my recorded movies back. No idea why it stopped working minus one update, do you??

No clue, but obviously there was a reason for releasing that update so quickly.
