Family Guy Concerns

Is it me, or is Family Guy losing some luster? The most recent episodes are funny in a dumb way, kinda like its aimed at a younger audience. Could it be The Simpsons all over again?

Give an example. I feel they're still very funny.

Re: Family Guy Concerns

Well, I can't think of something specific. For example, in previous seasons, each episode was packed with funny. It was joke after joke. Now, the jokes drag, and the premises of the episodes are getting kinda stupid. Peter swallows a bunch of nickels? Since when is Chris smart? I really think the show is losing its way. It's not funny enough, the way the first few episodes kinda sucked. IMO. Does anybody agree with me?

Re: Family Guy Concerns

I agree. I have all the other seasons on DVD and I'll probably end up getting the latest volume but the show really has lost some of it's kill factor. I think it has to do with all the gay musical type stuff. It does drag on. The slapstick stuff is the best part IMO. Like most recently, Peter shooting the "chick flick" and telling Joe that he may not be able to walk in real life but in the movie he does. So when we see the movie he has a card board picture taped to his wheel chair of legs standing up. The most hilarious parts of the show though are the references to old tv shows, especially ones where Peter was involved... "my old job at the Electric Company"... F-at Fat... "that's it, buddy... you're dead!" and so on... The show doesn't have enough of that.

Not disagreeing, (I actually haven't been able to see any new episodes since football is on at the same time) but Peter swallowed the nickels in like season 3. Thats when the show was on top of its game.

I've seen a few clips of new episodes and I think I see what you're talking about. Its like you can tell that the writers are scrambling to top themselves.
