Exclamation 2000 Astro Dash Light Replacement

Hey, I just signed up to this forum today.

I have a 2000 Astro I have been driving since buying it new in 2000. Over the course of time various dash lights have gone out and I'm not sure how to get to them to replace them.

The switches for the rear air, rear heat, & rear wiper look as if you can just snap the panels out with a screwdriver but I am afraid to start prying on them without more info.

Can anyone point me to a site that has illustrated instructions on how to remove various parts of the dash safely?

Welcome Aboard!

The switches can be removed from the front, but it is safer to remove the large trim bezel surrounding the instrument cluster, radio, and center pod (all one piece) then eject them from the rear.

As for the lighting in the rear AC, heat, and wiper switches themsleves, they are very small lamps which are crimped into place, and are designed to be non-servicable. That's not to say that an industrious person cannot replace them, but a further hindrance is that they are also coated in an opaque blue plastic to create the correct color. And there is precious little room to replace them with anything larger.

For the specialty lamps, you might want to try here, although they will not be coated:

Thanks for the quick response.

I do have to ask who the IDIOT was that designed this van with non-replaceable bulbs!

This is my 2nd Astro; I drove my 94 for about 6 years and plan on driving this one at least 10 years. I wouldn't trade it even for a caddie, I love the way they drive and the comfort on a long trip can't be beat.
