Re: my 16g keeps blowing vacuum lines?
Hey mang. Please read the rules and post in the right subforums. Welcome to AF.
What boost pressure are you running? Are those little clamps worn out? I bet the reason its running choppy is a boost leak, check www.vfaq.com for the directions to build a boost leak tester. |

Re: my 16g keeps blowing vacuum lines?
I am pretty much a moron when it comes to turbos I think it was @ 15 lbs or so my mechanic told me it was pushing too much but I think he doesnt know about turbos either. I had the engine rebuilt cuz the piston rings were bad and he said that now the rings are good it is just too much boost.

Re: my 16g keeps blowing vacuum lines?
No such thing as too much boost. Well, there is, but I don't think for our problem. It sounds like the clamps are bad/not tight/worn/or broken.

Re: my 16g keeps blowing vacuum lines?
The mechanic just called and said he bypassed the boost control. That doesnt sound right to me, dont I need that hooked up? I hate to sound like an idiot but it is my first turbo vehicle my last eagle talon was a 1996 esi.

Re: my 16g keeps blowing vacuum lines?
o.k. I went to the F.A.Q. section and did some reading. (so much info to digest, I am not saying that I still even remotely understand what I got myself int buying a DSM) what would probably help me the most is a link to a vacuum diagram for a 92 TSI awd with a 16g turbo. I think my old mechanic is at his wits end trying to re-install this turbo correctly Thanks all.

Re: my 16g keeps blowing vacuum lines?
ok, I'm not sure if you're meaning the vacuum lines or the intake/pressure hoses... I'm assuming that you are indeed talking a/b vacuum lines... in that case, buy you a baggie of zipties ($3 from your local Advance) and ziptie the vacuum lines to the nipples... then they won't blow off. I had the same problem outta my car. I do believe that it's putting too much pressure on the lines for them to stay on the nipples themselves... The zipties will hold them up there and you should be able to boost more than the ~5lbs you can boost without them (what my 14b would boost w/o the vacuum lines on= HUGE boost leak)
