Acacia Strain/DÅÅTH/Job For A Cowboy/Psopus

Just went to The Rebel in NYC to check out Job for a Cowboy, i never really listened much to the other bands there. They were opening for The Acacia Strain. So, here's the deal:

1st: DÅÅTH

FUCKING AMAZING show. I dl'ed their 2 albums before going, thought it was decent death metal, but holy shit they put on an amazing show. They were, by far, the most talented and easily the best band at the show.

2nd: Psyopus

Supposed to be like a psychadelic metal band... really, wasn't impressed by their album (except 2 songs which had amazing guitar work), and they were god awful live. i left after 1 song and chilled at the bar with the DAATH guys. (they're all friggen HUGE, btw, but nice guys. They gave me some cake and bought me a beer, i guess it was one of the members birthdays?)

3rd: Job For A Cowboy

The reason for going in the first place; They put on a good show. wasn't as great live as they are on album, but they had energy, they did their job, they didn't dissapoint.

4th: The Acacia Strain

...blew. Sure, they were better than Psyopus, but really, i'm not into the Hardcore scene, and they were basically like metalcore/hardcore. (the guitarrist look like fucking Fred Durst, acted all wiggerish, too. hat a gold grill, and "murder" tatooed on the back of his neck.) They were kinda gay, i didn't like the music, whatever. We left after 3 songs. (3 too many)

Overall:

Like I said, DAATH was the best band there, by far. They REALLY know how to work a small venue like that. If you're into death metal, and these guys are in town, CHECK EM OUT!!! Also, i guess because Acacia Strain was the headliner, the venue was full of hardcore jack-offs. The pit wasn't so much a pit, more of a large circle with hardcore dancers just flailing limbs around cuz they think they're cool, not thrashing to the music at all. and, they all looked gay, FUCKING FAGS. wearing women's jeans and contra t-shirts and hairsprayed emo-hair.... i wanted to kill them all. (lol, so did DAATH.)

My friend had his camera, i don't know what kind of pics he took, if any of the show at all... i'll post 'em up if he sends 'em.

EDIT: ok, here are 2 of DAATH

you know, the show wasn't all that great, probably because of the crowd there, and because of psyopus and acacia strain. Seeing DAATH and JFAC, and being with my fucken crazy friends is what made the show fun. still sucks that you have to go through a lab instead, oh well, they'll be back i'm sure.

thing about psyopus, their guitarrist is potentially talented. He was trying too hard to be Stevie Ray Vaughn with the songs, and it just didn't fit. On thier album, there're 2 songs which i actually do like, because its as if the band just let the guitarrist go free, let him do w/e, and kinda jam with him, instead of having him make their songs sound more trippy. Also, the vocalist was kind of a poser. "wassup NYC!! ummm, yeah... i'm really stoned so... yeahhhh! put up those horns!!" lol, loser.

Funny, when JFAC came on, one of my friends that i was with (big huge ex-skinhead) got really pissed off at this one hardcore/emo fag and just nailed him in the back of the head and like 5 or 6 pple jumped in and started fighting. he got out and ran back into the crowd so security wouldn't take him out, lol. In the middle of the song, the vocalist goes "KILL THEM MOTHERFUCKERRRRR!!!" lol.
Then, Acacia Strain came on, and before the first song "C'mon guys, we're grown up, if you feel the need to fight, take it outside, ok?" yeah, whatever.

You think that's bad you should see it when they put Artimus Pyledriver, Remembering Never, Bury Your Dead and Devildriver on the same bill. I've never seen so many metalhead vs. hardcore kid fights in one night. It was great.
