Dropping A Turbo into a GSR
I was wondering if you think it is worth installing a turbonetics kit into my GSR. My family has a 3000GT VR4, and I know it won't have the same kind of feeling as the twin turbo, but I was wondering if the 260 hp the Integra will supposedly have be a similar force to be reconed with. Or would I get better reults going Naturally Aspirated? How do you think the car will preform on the freeway? Will there be problems with emissions, or will the car become harder to maintain and less reliable? I am looking to make a contender out of my GSR. If you could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Dropping A Turbo into a GSR
well its going to be going to the front wheels....so its going to be a different feeling..... to make it more reliable your going to need to do some serious dyno tunning and maybe some internal building or just keep the boost low. but to make it reliable tune tune tune.

QUOTE] I'm assuming that the kit you're talking about pushes 7lbs of boost which is what most turbo kits out there come at in which case getting 260hp to the wheels might be stretching it a bit... as far as getting better gains from NA I would say stay with the turbo, not to say you can't get some decent gains off of a NA setup but you would certainly not get what you will get out of a turbo kit for the price... to even achieve 250 off of an ls platform will take some serious time, money and work, I mean anything is possible but the turbo woul certainly be the quicker and easier way to go... just remember though that regardless of what you do to the teg don't expect it to all of a sudden to have torque coming out of it's ass... you can get definately get some good hp readouts out of a b18 motor but always expect the torque number to be dragging behind... as far as how it performs all depends on what type of setup you do, ie. your internals, engine/fuel management, suspension setup, etc... I don't know where you live so I don't know how strict your emissions are but I do know that in some states it would be difficult to pass emissions with a turbo kit... the reliability of it all depends on how you drive it and take care of it and the quality of a job that is done with the upgrades (whether or not certain things that should be done to make sure everything runs correctly are done, ie. making sure that the proper amount of fuel is being recieved which means having a wide band O2 sensor, new injectors, pump, etc.)... regardless of the type of car, any type of modifications done to it that increase hp significantly will put extra stress on the stock components that have not been changed eventually making them weaker and more probable to breaking down. now this obviously doesn't apply to some ram air intake or an exhaust But if you feed a NA motor that has a higher compression then most stock turbo'd cars and slap a turbo on it and run 8 lbs of boost there will be extra stress on the engine's components because those rods, crank, pistons, etc weren't manaufactured to handle FI. The car may not break down right away or at all for that matter, one never knows, but it will be more probable to having something break or wear down. Hope this helps ya.

Re: Dropping A Turbo into a GSR
Ya, you can only run 8psi topps on stock internal on a gsr. Turbo is the best bang for your buck thoug, well not counting N20. But if you have the money I say build your block up so you can run a little higher boost. Also like said above, Tuning and maintinance is the key to keeping your car running properly. Good luck with that, sounds like fun.
