What do you tow with your Cherokee ?
Was wondering what most people have towed with their Cherokees.
How much load/weight do / have you pulled ? Mine's a 99 4.0, 4 dr, 2 wl drive. I've pulled a 2200 lb (U-haul) trailer with a 2750 lb car from Ft. Myers, Florida to Williamsburg, PA & back. That's 4950 lb !!!! Another trip, Fla. to Carlisle, PA & back. Both trips were w/o a weight distribution hitch. (not to smart) I found out later, the Cherokee is rated @ 5000 lb only when using the weight distribution hitch. As you'll see in the following pic's, with the U-haul trailer, it was to much weight, note the front end up & the rear down. . ![]() . Later I had a trailer made, it's only 1400 lb (w/electric brakes) I made a trip from Fla to Osach Beach, Mo. & back. With the hitch & lighter trailer loaded with the Fiero, it got 14-16 MPG while traveling @ 75 mph The Cherokee likes this setup better, rides more level using the EQ hitch

My dad has a '78 Cherokee Chief (maybe a '79, I don't remember for sure)
He tows our boat ('70s Speed/Ski boat that weighs practically nothing w/ 203 hp at the prop )He also tows a little trailer that we used to use to haul our trash from our house to the dump before we got a trash service thingy out here... -Grendel |

Thanks for the compliments, I'll pass em along to my dad
![]() He spent a year or two kinda restoring it... he fixed some rust spots, had it repainted, and rebuilt the motor... Then he added headers/exhaust... it sounds nice ![]() -Grendel |

I've pulled 4300lb loads with mine quite a few times (full sized cars on car dollys). Not bad for a near 200K 2.8 with automatic!

I pulled/pushed a 72 Ford f250 with camper into my buddies back yard and up a hill. Not sure of weights but my baby did it no sweat.
