warranty void??

i just talked to my dealer (service manager) and he informed me that i should not be adjusting anything and they have put extensive research into the vehicle. (whatever!!!) I also asked if putting larger tires will void the warranty. he avoided the subject. then I asked if doing this will void the warranty if something related to steering was to go, he said no. Does anyone have direct experience with putting on 31" and warranty coverage? All i have heard is that is may void the warranty IF the adjustment caused the defect. Has this happened to anyone?? Will purchase the tires this week once decided which type.

You do not need to adjust anything (like torsion bars) for 31X10.50" tires. You may need to trim the mud flap in the front wheel wells. This trimming is just so you do not run the risk of catching the lip at the top of the mud flap in a lug and rip the plastic off.

And any crap they try and give you for running 31s is bogus. The '02 SE/SCs come with 265/65R17 with the EXACT same driveline other than the engine, and they're the same diameter as a 31x10.50 BFG AT.

Same with the 265/70/16s that are standard on the 2002 XE

In a nutshell comparing tire size to maintain drivetrain warranty:

265/75R15 = 265/70R16 = 265/65R17 = 31"

And

265/75R16 = 265/70R17 = 32"
