what causes this?

On a 2000 mustang v6 with remote entry, when i press the unlock button, it only unlocks and locks the driver's door. the passenger's door does not do it.

The only way to open the passenger door is to get in the drivers side and open it from the inside. the unlock button on the drivers door does not even unlock it!

Re: what causes this?

You may have to push the button twice. I know on my friends '04 Tacoma he has to push the remote button and d/s doorlock button twice to unlock the passenger side. It's a saftey feature I beleive. Parked in a dark parking garage you dont want to unlock the passenger side door where someone unwelcome could get in the car. Not sure if this is 100% correct but thats the reason I was told at a dealership a couple years ago.

i have a 2000. i push mine twice and it unlocks both, so if that doesnt work then something is wrong with yours. so your saying the unlock button in the door doesnt unlock it? because it should. sounds like your right.

Re: what causes this?

yea i just tried unlocking both doors from inside using the rocker switch and nothing... it looks like they try to go up and down but they don't go all the way, and with the remote they do somewhat of the same thing. the only way into the car is with the key when both doors are manually locked from the inside.
