Unhappy Steering wheel won't retract

Hello,

As you can see, I am a newbie, and I just got my 96 750, and I am having, what I believe might be a relay problem.
When I turn the car off, the steering wheel does not move up and away. I can move it with the control, but only when the drivers door is closed. The memory controls work, but only if you hold the button, and it does not matter if the door is open or closed. I read, if the door is closed, you have to hold the button, i.e. 1,2 or 3. but if the door is open, you just touch the button, well that does not work, I still have to hold the button. This is why I am thinking a relay. I know the dealer can program some of the stuff using the key fob, but my son has a same year 740il and all that works like it should..help me please! What relay should I change and can I swap with another to try it?

I really like this car

Thank you!!

Re: Steering wheel won't retract

Thank you for replying.
I read somewhere, that it may just be a relay, or since the seat control has been repaired, it may be the master plug is loose? I have not checked any of this, but I also heard that auto away is dealer programmable. The other thing I heard is the memory control might be bad, but it works and stores everything. Do you know where a guy can find a list of relays?
