Re: shift linkage problems

the the universal joint. the part that slides into the tranny. there is a hole where the joint bends. it's right next to the tranny . and we put a bolt through it. thought it went there. but i guess maybe not?

Re: shift linkage problems

You talking aboutthe hole that connects the shifter linkage to the linkage on the tranny? The one that comes with a pin in it stock?

Re: shift linkage problems

check that its not bound up, and also that the stabilizer bar isn't too tight. I needs to be tight but not overly.

Tony is right there. It comes stock with a pin in it...I think people refer to it as the "Bitch pin"...that could be your problem if the bolt is to tight...that linkage needs a little slack to work properly, if you look at a normal setup that has no shifting problems, that joint kinda pivots slightly as you work through the gears...if you have it bolted, and the connection is tight it can't pivot..that could cause your problem. Same with the stabilizer bar, it has to be tight but not super tight

Re: shift linkage problems

you know what. i bet it is too tight. i'll have to fix it on tuesday, i got some diagrams off another site so i know what i'm looking for. i hope it's the bolt being too tight.

Re: shift linkage problems

make sure you use two nuts and lock them together so it wont come loose, or get the proper pin for real cheap from the dealer. good luck

Re: shift linkage problems

Or go get a trailer hitch pin from the hardware store for cheap and no headaches, just make sure you install it from the topside of the linkage. its how I have the linkage on my race car and it works perfect, even with all the thrashing around that car went through.
