2000 intrepid won't move.

A friend of mine has a 2000 Intrepid with the autostick (3.5L I believe). He said that a few days ago the tranny started to slip while he was driving, but went back into gear. He was able to get home like that. This morning he went to leave and the car wouldn't go into gear at all. He checked for leaks under the car, and checked the tranny fluid level, couldn't find anything obvious and the fluid was full. Anyone got any ideas?

The 1998 and up transmissions do not go out. Most auto salvage yards do not sell them and all they do is sit on the shelf. They do have problems with the speed sensors.Does the service engine light come on?There might be a code stored in the computer.

The shift linkage is also a possibility as a point of failure.
