Window will not go up

Among the many new problems popping up in my '94 Trooper my currently most pressing one is the rear drivers' side window.

It will go down when the switch on that door is pressed, but it will not go up with the same switch. It will not do anything either way when the switch on the drivers' door is pressed.

Any ideas? Help a dummy out.

Re: Window will not go up

From the diagram it appears as if the front switch relies on the rear switch being in the neutral position in order to operate the window. If the neutral position contact (in the "down" leg of the ckt) in the rear switch doesn't have continuity when it is in the neutral position it won't allow a return path for rolling the windows up from the rear or up/down from the front (I hope this isn't too confusing).

Depending on how mechanically inclined you are, it is very easy to remove the rear door skins and swap power window switches. Assuming that the passenger's side rear window operates correctly, I would swap the two rear switches and see if this isolates the problem.

Re: Window will not go up

We had the same problem, but with the driver's window. We spent money to get it diagnosed. The dealer said that it was the window switch plate itself (located on the driver's door panel). The cost, $455.00 retail!!!!!! We found a used one on Ebay.com and paid $32. It's an easy fix you can do at home ith no tools!!!! It just pops out and you plug in the wires to the new plate and pop it back in! For $30 something I'd try it to see if that is what your problem is!!!
