Another update. Some questions too!

I know I havent gotten hardly anything done to the car in the time frame I ad hoped for. But finally I pulled the motor and took it up to the machine shop last week. It will be a week or so before he can get around to it as he got hit with 3 race motors and another windsor a day or 2 before I got there. But, he is going to check out the bottom end for me due to the drop in oil pressure at idle. Also we are going to put cometic head gaskets on there in hopes of holding the boost better. Now I find myself at a delima. Should I save some money and just upgrade the head gaskets? Or should I switch to a Vic Jr intake which means I'll have to buy a new distributor? Changeing the intake means port work on the heads. Or, should I go with Vic jr heads & intake, which still means a new dist? Also if I changed the heads I might as well upgrade to a bigger cam to take advantage of the heads while the motor is out. Or should I leave the motor alone for now and get a roll cage, wheel tubs, and a badass 8.8 rearend? Building the car up more would put motor upgrades on hold, as well as hope the stock '89 351w block and crank will hold up a little longer. Or, should I buy a Dart block and steel crank and have my current rods and pistons swapped over to complete a much stronger short block? Or should I try to sell the shortblock and buy new rods, pistons, crank, and block? Damn this addiction is expensive, and I still want that damn turbo!

So, leave the motor alone and upgrade the rest of the car?
Build kickass short block and put current heads/cam/intake on it?
Build new motor?
Buy turbo kit?
What am I gonna do????????? Any advice is welcome.

Leave te motor alone, and uograde the rest of the car. I want you to be safe, more than anything else. With that much power, you should have a roll cage

I agree. If you were putting down about 600 the way it was, you really should get a roll cage.

Re: Another update. Some questions too!

I wonder if a 10 point cage will be enough to run high 9's? Wonder if I have to have the chassis cert'd to go that fast? I'll probably do the interior, roll cage, wheel tubs, engine bay this winter. Wonder how much I could sell my motor & blower for to do a Dart block turbo motor?

Re: Another update. Some questions too!

Been doing some more pricing. I can hope my block & crank hold up until next winter, and buy a cage, turbo kit, wheel tubs, this winter, maybe a bullet proof 8.8 if I'm lucky. I guess this will be the plan, for now anyway.

Edit: Anyone know where I can buy a good roll cage notched and ready to weld in? Wolf has one but its expensive. May end up going with it because its known to work though.

I give you my kudo's and prayers you don't nail that thing into a wall. Great ideas, but you could do better with a Cleveland! Heh just kidding. But nice car anyway, make sure you make the mustang name proud at the track, and blow some chevy's and dodge's away.
