Has anyone heard summits exhaust? how does it sound? whether it be cat back or just a muffler. Im wanting loud with minimal cab drone but im on a pretty tight budget.

Re: Summit Exhaust

This may not be the right place to ask, but what is the difference between a 'cat back' and a regular muffler? Like Dropkick, I too am looking for loud, but minimal cab drone. Thanks.

Re: Summit Exhaust

A cat back exhaust system is a system that bolts directly behind the catalytic converter in place of whatever the stock exhaust was. I've never heard anybody with a Summit system myself, but if you've got a 6.0, it'll be loud whatever you put on it.

Re: Summit Exhaust

For my money, I'd just find a reputable exhaust shop, cut everything off behind the cats and stick some good old cheap glasspacks behind them with 2 1/2" pipe and 3" tips. I don't know about where you're from, but we all go to the Exhaust Pro's shop around here. Make sure they use aluminized or stainless pipe and don't buy the cheap tips, because they're where the tone comes from. My Exhaust Pro's guy usually charges around $225-275 including tips for duals. That's what we did with my brother's '99 2500 (6.0) and it's quiet in the cab and loud everywhere else. Even picked up the mileage a bit. I've got an '02 HD, and I'm going to put a single side exit cat back as soon as the pocketbook says its ok.
