chance CPM

What is involved to change a cpm- is it possible to switch to a used cpm?

CPM? I might be a little spent for the day but I'm missing the cpm part.A few more details on your question would be great.

If it's a PCM, the new unit will have to be programmed with the vehicle VIN info prior to installation. The removal/installation itself is as easy as it gets. Locate PCM, disconnect battery, disconnect wiring harnesses, remove screws/nuts holding it in and it's out. Installation is reverse of removal. You'll have to run it through a calibration/idle relearn cycle and you're done.
