I want to get a new intercooler b/c my stock smic has a hole in it. I want a front mount but I dont need something huge because I want to keep my fog lights. Maybe like 16in wide and 6-8 in. tall. I'm only looking to spend about $500, but keep in mind it must have the piping because there arent any pipe shops around, but I do have greedy upper & lower pipes.

Re: Intercooler sizing
2.5" will do you fine. You dont need to have any pipes bent. I used 3 u bends from summit and cut them to fit and they worked perfect.

Re: Intercooler sizing
thats a stumpy dimension for an intercooler... i think a huge front mount would definately be worth giving up your fog lights. You can order a piping kit off of ebay with plenty of piping to do ya fine.

Re: Intercooler sizing
There are a couple people on here running intercoolers that kept their foglights, I believe crunchymilk was one of them. Do a search and see what you can find, but I know this has been covered before.

Re: Intercooler sizing
What's your opinion on used intercoolers? I found a really good deal on a greddy front mount for about $375....they guy said it was on the car for about 1 year and was driven for about 5,000mi. Should I get it?

Re: Intercooler sizing
Someday I am going to test before and after air temps on similar sized eBay and name brand intercoolers. Take like two weeks readings on each and see if there really is a difference.

Re: Intercooler sizing
I think there's a difference to a certain point, but it probably wouldn't make that much of a performance difference unless you're running 1000+ hp. I know people don't like buying expensive brand name shit, but there are actually some companies that put hundreds of hours of testing some of their products and getting it to work right. Granted some companies just want their moneys worth, some are actually good companies that are out there for you, not just your money.

Re: Intercooler sizing
or buy a brand new one off of ebay for a third the price and have extra money. The namebrand isnt gonna make it work better

Re: Intercooler sizing
Does the one you're talking about come with the piping?

Re: Intercooler sizing
That is a dinky ass core, I would get a bigger one. Aftermarket fog lights are probably smaller and brighter if you really have to have them.

Re: Intercooler sizing
I'd go for it. It's not too expensive, comes with the piping, and hasn't had anything but positive feedback in a year.
