Stock Oil Cooler
My 1991 Talon Tsi has an oil cooler... I haven't gotten down there and looked... but I have seen a few other Talons that don't have oil coolers...
I was wondering, did Talons come with Oil coolers stock?

Re: Stock Oil Cooler
Just 90's. Its a pretty straight forward and well worth swap IMO, I would keep it.

Re: Stock Oil Cooler
so it's a possibility that someone swapped a '90 motor in my car (before I bought it)?
or prolly just a oil filter housing... I'll have to go look... I do think it's worth it... I just haven't seen any other's around here with oil coolers (some with tranny coolers [AT])... but none with the oil coolers...

Re: Stock Oil Cooler
Actually, I discussed this with Kevin at one time and his opinion was that the oil coolers weren't that great of a benefit. We really could do without them but if we have them already then we might as well keep them. I think every little bit helps...

Re: Stock Oil Cooler
well, mine is of a good size... comparable to transmission coolers... and bigger than most of these aftermarket pos'... so I think I'll just keep it...

Re: Stock Oil Cooler
I've heard that the stock one's have plastic end tanks (like the radiators, DAMN U MITSUBISHI- radiator end tank cracked) and can crack over time... if so, then I may switch to a shiny aluminum one...

Re: Stock Oil Cooler
The oil coolers I have seen didn't have plastic endtanks... Neither does my radiator either... lol

Re: Stock Oil Cooler
The top and bottom (endtanks) on the radiator are plastic... mine cracked from heat and age... a hairline crack, but it will continue to worsen...
Idk a/b the oil cooler, I haven't had a chance to look yet... but someone on e-bay was selling a nice aftermarket (aluminum) oil cooler, and he said it was better than the stock one, and said they are plastic

Re: Stock Oil Cooler

Re: Stock Oil Cooler
The endcaps on our radiators aren't plastic, but the inlet and outlets are and tend to crack and corrode as time goes on. Mine's really bad right now on my RS and I think it's time for a trip to the radiator repair man.
