Re: how to stop wheel hop
Where do you feel it? Tires or what. If its a problem get ESMM. Help with wheel hops.

Re: how to stop wheel hop
Are you sure it's not the traction control??? I'm not sure about the 02-04's but the 05's+ have traction control which applies the front brakes if the front wheels are spinning faster than the rear. This is what the service writer at acura told me. However that was the same guy that told me there were no inserts to replace the mud guards.

Re: how to stop wheel hop
What?!?!?
You gotta be kidding... If this is true, that service writer needs an ass beating. I hope Honda will honor the Acura warranty if I have problems in the future. I have been thinking about getting firmer motor mounts for a while. If that pounding is wheel hop then mm's will be my next mod. I saw the inserts on ClubRSX but I'm skeptical on getting just inserts. I also saw that they have actual stiffer mounts. I was thinking about getting the 2nd stiffest ones, just before full race mounts.... You know if someone is perverted enough they could have a field day with that last paragraph.... but seriously, do you all think the inserts are good enough, or that the ones before full race would be to harsh?

Yep no traction control for our cars.

And you are correct. No traction control on any RSX out of the factory. If you can squeal, there is definitely no traction control.

Re: how to stop wheel hop
Just get better tires and motor mount inserts. You can get full motor mount replacements but there a lot more expensive and it will make more interior vibrations do to being a solid urathane motor mount. For daily drivers inserts will do the job unless you have plans for major hp then it would be a wise to go for the full replacement mounts.
You can also get ingalls stiffy mount. It is a mini shock that connect the top of the engine to the vehicles body. (It acts like a third motor mount) |

Re: how to stop wheel hop
I highly recommend Innovative motor mounts - full replacement mounts, solid polyurethane mounts. They come in three flavors, street, race and solid.
I installed all four street mounts a few months ago. Love them. A little extra vibration, but the car feels like a completely different car - in a good way. Shifts smoother, and the power really gets to the ground, not absorbed by those squishy wimpy OEM mounts. My front mount was torn, the others were still "intact". You'd be surprised (if you haven't already seen) how little rubber there actually is in the stock motor mounts. Just a couple of little tabs on the front and rear mounts that actually connect the center bolt hole to the outer frame of the mount. Good for absorbing vibration, not so good at holding the motor in place. I never had the ESMMs, but I've heard on crsx that the Innovatives are actually better (less vibrations) due to their tapered design. I paid $275 for the rear and two sides, and then $110 for the front. I sold the OEM passenger side mount for $40 - not bad for a used motor mount with ~ 50K miles on it. I could have sold the front if it weren't torn. I threw it in the trash - someone might have bought it torn to fill it with polyurethane; some guys do that. Right now I'm running the front and two sides Innovative, and OEM rear, to soften the vibrations. Most guys just buy the set of three (two sides and rear) and call it a day, because they are that good with only three installed and the front is the hardest to install and most expensive. I had the Ingalls torque damper before I bought these mounts. I installed the mounts one at a time to see how much each one contributed to overall engine "holding". With only the passenger side mount installed, the engine was much more solid (and quiet) than with the torque damper. If you've got the money, buy these mounts. Lifetime warrranty too. I figured engine mounts are like tires - wear items. I was certain one of them was busted too; I just didn't find it until the last mount I pulled. Innovatives are cheaper than OEM. Of course if you just bought the car it will piss you off to have to invest this kind of money in motor mounts...... Oh - they stop wheel hop too, if your engine is stock or mostly stock. |
