a story about rain, a minivan and a moron

Yesterday I was driving back from a movie with a friend of mine and long story short: i took a corner a bit to fast in the rain, and ended up sliding into a minivan now i need a new fender and some other body work. My damage was quoted at $1800 bux, they say i dont need a new front bumper. The minivan has $2800 in damage i had to vent some rage on some guys fence and ended up messing my hand up... making me look like a retard twice

no one got hurt but i am going to be bankrupt... again.

the good news is that they agreed to keep it off of insurance which would absolutely break me. also good news: i can afford to pay the minivan owner right away. the bad news is, i cant afford to fix mine right away. but the car is functionally okay except that the headlights have to be popped up all the time cuz the driver side light will get stuck on a peice of fender if they go down. when I go to the bodyshop to get my car all fixed up i'll have them take care of a few other dents and dings as well.

the moral of the story is... dont drive like me, lol

I should think in some rain with a little throttle and momentum you could break loose fairly easily actually.

Sorry to hear man. I guess learn a lesson from this.

Re: a story about rain, a minivan and a moron

actually i learned two lessons: 1.) dont drive like a moron 2.) especially not in the rain, lol

i have summer tires on so that may have had something to do with it. also i had it explained to me that cars with wider tires have a hard time in the rain because it takes longer to expel the water to the outside of the tire from the middle. not to say any of these factors are excuses for bad driving tho.

Re: a story about rain, a minivan and a moron

i dont know anything about doing bodywork. the most i can do is prep stuff for paint. it would be alot cheaper cuz the parts arent even a thousand bucks but the labor puts it over $1800. i would if i could but i think i'd be a little over my head and i dont think it would look that good.

Re: a story about rain, a minivan and a moron

Havent tried in the rain yet but my car will never slide! even when i want it too... though thankfully not when i dont either... Yeah, be carefull in the rain, I had many issues with that when i was driving my firebird! and now your car looks like a firebird with the headlights up!'

But seriously, at least your ok, I just had four freinds die a couple nights ago in a car crash, so everyone make sure to buckle up. Good luck with the repairs and drive safe (especially when wet)

Re: a story about rain, a minivan and a moron

im really sorry to hear about your friends. i cant even imagine what that must be like. kinda makes my trashed fender seem pretty small.

it took a special kind of stupid for me to slide like that. heres proof that you can do it though:

i dont think ive ever seen all four tires get converted completely into smoke before.

Yeah, this accident has been pretty rough, It feels like so many peopel have died since high school, and I"m only 22... Makes me rethink my own mortality.

But that aside... That vid was awsome!
