Hooray for my dead fuel pump

Welp I think it has bit the dust. Friday afternoon I was meeting the g/f for lunch and I noticed a couple of times in traffic when I went to take off my Blazer about died. I made it to my destination. After I finished eating, my Blazer died twice and then ran great. I drove it home no problems and it even handled my mashing the gas to figure out what the problem was. It even allowed me to drive to the movies during the evening.

But yesterday morning I went to go somewhere and notta. No whir..........just silence in the On position with the key. The fuse checks out okay and I looked in my Hanes repair book for other possible fixes and they mentioned the relay. Not too sure how to test that with it being in the fuse panel.

I had to make a split decision on Saturday on what to pick up. I went to Napa and chose 1 of the 3 possibilities. Yep I got a Carter. I am prolly up sh*t creek but I start my new job here tomorrow and I gotta get something in it. I cannot get in a Bosch pump at AZ or Advanced. Both have an unknown waiting time. So I plan on swinging by the Stealership to see what they have to offer. Hopefully the model of Carter fits after I pull the tank down.

The bad thing is I have 3/4 of a tank of gas left. Time for me to syphon some.

Re: Hooray for my dead fuel pump

Took me roughly 4 hours to get it all out and put back together. The quick disconnects were very cranky and I drained all the gas out and used a towel to wipe away all the sand at the bottom of the tank. Lots of Arab soil in there.

My Carter pump from Napa lasted 14 months.

Went with a Delphi unit this time (the new name for the ACDelco pump)
If you ever need another pump, Napa can get it for you cheaper than a dealer. Or try gmpartdirect.com

Good luck.
