WIP, '58 Impala
Hi all!
Fresh from the paint shop, corall blue and pure white from Tamiya shot straight from the can. Maybe I'll put on some blue and/or green pearl on top of the blue and then some clear coats to polish out. If my father reads this...get the h**l out of here, this is your's for christmas when it's ready. Well, it's just to get a move on and finish it until then. I have the MCG etch fret for this one and plan to use most of it inside and out. It will be a stocker with maybe a bit lower suspension to get a better stance on it. I didn't succed with the separation line between the blue and white so I'll have to carefully sand it straight and nice, a bit nerve wrecking if you know what I mean. You can see it in the last picture, it's kind of a ragged edge. Niclas ![]() ![]()

Nice subject and really neat color. Love that blueish/white combination.
What brand is the kit? Revell?

This is an old AMT that's been rereleased, been almost 30 years since I saw it the first time and wanted to build one. Don't know why it took so long but here it is. For such an old kit it's amazing, I remember how impressed we all where when one of the guys at school built one at the model building class. There are newer kits that are a lot worse than this one, maybe a bit soft on details but overall a very nice kit. Niclas |

A cool classic! Just the thing for these last days of summer. Imagine cruising the boulevard in one of those, eh?

Oh sorry niclas, how could I miss this? Looks great, I´m sure your father will be satisfied with it. Gotta luv those big-ass american vintage cars. Good luck touching up the little masking mishap!
Keep it up!

Re: WIP, '58 Impala
More then a year since I last did some work on this car, but hey it's back to haunt you all again....and me too for that matter
It was supposed to be finished for last years christmas but that never happend. So I try to do it this year instead. Applied some BMF last night and beside some minor artistic interpretations I still have to add it's bright work are finished. ![]() ![]() I've modified the dash to accomodate the new gauge faces. The main cluster will be mounted from behind and the three small ones will be put in new frames directly on the surface. ![]() I sanded off the rough texture on the front- and rear bench and got some new piping on to the rear seat. Still have the front seat to do. Some primer and sanding and it will be ready for paint. Some serious masking needed for this one. ![]() Something like this but in blue/green instead. ![]() Niclas |

Re: WIP, '58 Impala
Beautiful car and you are really doing justice to it. I remember having this kit years ago and tried to paint it like the one on American Graffiti, I wish I still had it. Very intriguing work on the interior, cant wait to see how it turns out. Again, suberb job on the body.
