Re: engine swap help

yes u will need new transaxles, and yes u will need a new wiring harness. i dunno where u can find one, it all depends on the type of engine u have. ecotec or twin-cam. good luck

Re: engine swap help

hope you have a new tranny as well. The old one will physically bolt up, the but the bell housing don't line up along with the starter positions.

Re: engine swap help

I have a 99 2.2L non-ecotec auto trans Ive found 3 Z24's at a local junk yard. All have been sed to run and are between 95-97.I can pick up: motor, trans, wireharness&coumputerfor $375,or the hole car for $450.My question is will the 2.4L bolt up on my stock mounts and trans?I aso found a trans shop who will do a swap for $4,000.Im looking for more power. My friend w/ a gen 2 teg keeps stomping my ass and im tired of it.Or would a turbo do the trick?Heres the link http://www.sportcompactonly.com/prod...2&mk=Chevrolet

Re: engine swap help

turbocharging your engine would be pointless. and why would u just buy the engine and all that comes with it for only 100 bux less than the whole car? is it totalled or something? just buy the whole car and use that money to get a turbo. it would cost a lot more swapping out engines than it would to buy that whole car. oh, and lets NOT use 500+ font.......and as far as i know, the 2.4 wouldnt directly match the mounts or trans. and i thought u were just complaining in another post about having an auto? wouldnt keeping ur same trans be pointless if you wanted a manual? just a thought.

Re: engine swap help

Lol, $4000 trans swap.... That could get me a stage 2 turbo, and I'd be beating the hell outta that Nteg. But yeah, best bet would be to buy the whole car if its running. Could use the extra money to replace whatever needs to be replaced.

Re: engine swap help

I dont have $4000 for the swap, and all the cars are smashed up bad.Like I would need a rollback bad.If not a turbo than what?Cam,Cam gears, exhaust manifold,etc...?Im looking for someone who has done engine work to a 2.2L auto and what they have done. There must be something I can do to boost my HP.
