Lightbulb "unique" muffler designs

Though rather unconventional....perhaps it is the logical evolutionary development of exhaust "customization". Presenting, the Super Coffee Can. Get the story and watch it all unfold at http://www.geocities.com/morethanmic...offee_Can.html

Re: "unique" muffler designs

I'm not an engineer but i wanted to post anyway. It might be a good idea to have upright exhausts if it weren't illegal (emissions) and remember something called rain? It ruins mufflers, among other stuff. Even the big rigs have the top that pops up and ergonomically ( thinking about humans)..I think it looks UGLY and I don't want it on my car. I believe other consumers think this as well, if that isn't ergonomics I don't know what is. Interesting idea, overdone though you must know, unless you have more diabolical plans to add to this.

Almost forgot, That flyby video cracked me up, first you pass with that can, then the truck passes than you pass again with that huge can. Thanks for the videos.

ergonomics is not related to this at all. i think you're probably thinking of aesthetics, which referrs to how something looks.

you know it was a joke. Ergonomics are to design something that fits the basic and further needs of humans, based on their physiology. Right?

Re: "unique" muffler designs

This type of thing has been going on in asia for decades- and that is one of the most useless pages on the entire internet. And yes, egronomics is not the word you are looking for.

for crying out loud I used the word as a joke. Now everyone thinks I'm an idiot. Can't a man have a sense of humor in this forum?

Re: "unique" muffler designs

Screw ergonomics....i find it heeelarious. As for legality, on at least 4 occassions I (while otherwise obeying the law) have been followed by a member of the law enforcement community but not pulled over. They probably just couldn't stop laughing and then had to go take care of some real business.

Actually though, the CoffeeCanStack is far more ergonomic than the SuperCoffeeCan. At least twice, my brother tripped over the SuperCoffeeCan. In his defense he said: "Cars don't usually have 2 feet of crap behind the rear bumper!" He didn't 'really' break it...but i still had to reinforce it rather heavily...With the 90degree preformed elbow (it's electrical conduit, in case you wondered), it's up and out the way (and you can make popcorn!!!!)

Sadly though, the thin sheet metal of the coffee can has not been holding up too well to the intense heat and vibration. I may soon be fabricating something better.

Can't...stop...laughing

Why did you want it held upright though? You're smogging the air aren't you? I still don't get what purpose if any this coffee can serves. There's probably no power gains, and It doesn't look safer for the air. You should think about those 2 goals.

Re: "unique" muffler designs

a little lower, and a little wider, and it WOULD be ergonomic....put a roll of toilet paper next to it.

Re: "unique" muffler designs

the addition of any muffler or resonator will have no effect on emissions or cleanliness of air.
that is all taken care of by the engine. the cat cleans it out a bit then sends it out. after the cat, u are allowed to have as much fun w/ the exhaust as you want.

To a point, depending on state noise regulations.
