egr cleaning

I have a 1999 pontiac sunfire which is having a new crank shaft positioning sensor put in. Does my car also need the throttle (egr) cleaned too? Or do they just want more $$$$$$ ????

NOW I've been told its not running with the new crank shaft sensor.... it also needs an ignition moduler.. any ideas?
