Talking engine codes

Hi everyone, my engine light is on is there any way to pull the codes without a scanner, I know my son pulls the codes from his civic, with a paper clip, just wondering if this is also possible with an oldsmobile,96 cutlass supreme.I was just bragging on here not long ago it has 348,000kms,now an engine light ha,oh well hopefully it's not a big fix, thanks for any help. Brad

Hi MaxWedge, thanks for replying,by AZ do you mean AutoZone?,I live in Canada,I don't think we have any AutoZone here but I'll have to check the parts stores here to see if they offer this service,I'm just trying to make the olds last till next year, the last engine light that came on was for th TPS sensor, all the fluids are up must be a sensor of some sort, thanks again, hope you had a good ThanksGiving weekend.Brad
