Angry 96 neon fuel gauge dosen't work

1996 neon sohc 2.0 the fuel gauge reads full for a while then in 5 miles it says 3/4 tank and so on and son on till 20 miles and is back to empty how to fix it cheap

My 96 neon has the same problem...but all my guages were acting funny.

I disassembled the cluster and resoldered everything. i think you should only have to resolder the loints for the 2 wiring hrness conectors though.....Seems to be working now....time will tell....as it was an intermittened problem....good luck ......

well resoldering fixed all the guages except the fuel guage. must be the sending unit

yup I did the re-solder thing too and my fuel gauge dont work either. I was told you cant buy just the sending unit. You have to buy the fuel pump assembly which is like $210 at autozone. If anyone else knows where I can buy just the sending unit please email me or IM me and let me know. Thank you. I travel alot and hard to drive far without fuel gauges working properly and not have to stop every 200 miles to top off.
