relieving fuel pressure

I'm about to change my fuel filter (so chances are I'll blow the car up and not be on these forums anymore >_>), and in the service manual it says to disconnect the fuel tank harness connector. Yet it doesn't seem to display in any of the diagrams of where it is.

I know where the filter is, I just don't know what the harness connector for the fuel tank (or did they really mean pump?) is, can anyone give a quick description on it?

Thanks.

Re: relieving fuel pressure

Is it a Ciera? Supreme?

if it's the ciera, go from the center of the tank torwards the engine and you should see it. it's probably blackened from age by now, but it unclips. disconnect it and run the engine until it stalls.

That will work, you could also pull the fuel pump fuse, after the car is running to relieve pressure.

Re: relieving fuel pressure

Alright, finally got the damn thing disconnected. I just want to be sure of two things before I continue

1) The service manual says that the engine will run until the remaining fuel in the lines is gone. My engine never did start, it cranked with the starter but never came on. Is that normal?'

2) It says to reconnect the harness after the fuel lines are empty. Wouldn't it be safer to leave it disconnected?

Thank.s

Re: relieving fuel pressure

That is a reminder only, when you are done reconnect it.
