Problem with Door Locks-Olds Cutlass

I'm putting a 92 Olds Cutlass back together and after dropping a motor I am stuck at the door locks. Using the driver side button with the doors locked it will raise the driver side lock, not the passengers. The passengers won't do anything. When the doors are unlocked neither switch with lock the doors. So far I have checked both motors and both will unlock their doors but not each others. The fuse is good. Someone told me that the locks are controlled by some switch located behind the trim were the asshtrays in the backseat are. Any help will be appreciated. T.I.V.

Re: Problem with Door Locks

Did you check for any relays for the lock-unlock?
Also could be a fuse , not sure where they are tho.

Re: Problem with Door Locks

yeah checked them both.. I recently got some relays from the srap yard so that may be a problem.. im going to go get some more. And if anyone know a good electronics shop to bring the car to in the chicago area, let me know. What relays are the ones for the locks I've just been replacing random ones. and thanks for the response

Re: Problem with Door Locks

I wouldnt trust relays from the junk yard

They tend to rust or corrode and not work right.

I'm not exactly sure where they are,
tho the panel that covers the fuse box should say whats where.

Re: Problem with Door Locks

yeah. was goin the cheap route.. but I just left a body shop and he told me that its probably the acuators. I forgot to mention that I took the panels off and was able to see that the actuators will work unlocking the doors. but they don't move at all when trying to lock the doors. The passenger side won't unlock itself, but it will unlock the drivers side slowly. The guy said that the actuators are broken. Also the door for the passenger side gets stuck when trying to open them from the outside. lIke it doesnt' open freely. gotta keep trying to reopen it for it to open once. My cousin said that that could stop the locks from working and to try some wd-40. the body shop wants $110 without parts but I may not need actuators if its just the door lock being jammed and me needing a new handle and lock. What do you think?

Re: Problem with Door Locks

If they unlock then the acuator is working.
Thieris a 2 relays 1 lock 1 unlock, check that first.

Try and spray the latch on the door and the actuators actuator.

If you use Wd40, try not to get it on any connectors or the wires in general, it tends to dry out wire jackets and they crack.
If sprayed on electtrical connectors it can short out and catch fire.

On the door hard to open,
I'd oil the latch and see if that helps first.

If the door is not saging at the hinge,
you can adjust the latch on the door.
