Re: stealth .... neon??

It would be a problem getting it in there.
There isn't enough room to get the 3.0l into the engine bay.
The chassis wasn't designed for a V6 so you would probably have to completly fabricate a new front core section. I'm not telling you it can't be done. You could easily end up spending $10K on it and have a car worth $0 when you got done.
You would be better off putting a SRT-4 engine/transmission into it.

Re: stealth .... neon??

yea, I asked about doing a drum to disk brake conversion, and this guy told me i'll basically will have to get the srt-4 wheel base, and some stuff like that. So i'm just gonna do minor upgrades, save my money and buy a srt. I don't feel like going through all that.

Re: stealth .... neon??

Stealth engine could be done with enough time and money. If a V8 can fit then the 3.0L can fit also, but will take some serious customization. As said, your better off swapping in an SRT-4 engine.

If you want to use the SRT-4 brakes then you would need PT knuckles and alot of fabbing. Look at this post...

But you can use 1st gen rear discs and just get everything from the e-brake cable back. I have swapped my drums to discs and everything cost about $150.

I didn't want to use srt-4 brakes. what i wanted to do was change the rear drum brakes into disk brakes, and from what this guy explained to me, i'd be forking over hella cash to get it done. he basically told me i'd need the srt-4 wheelbase to pull this off. I don't want to do that, it basically puts a huge dent into my project which puts it to a screeching halt. If you know a better way plz tell me.

Re: stealth .... neon??

All you need is the e-brake cable, discs, calipers, backing plate, and lines from a 1st gen neon with rear discs. You can get everything for about $150-$200 from a junkyard possibly or if you want help locating everything, let me know. It's an easy swap and the discs look nicer than the drums. Here is a how-to...
