Gauges don't light up

None of the gauges light up when I turn on my lights or do the A/C controls light up. And the cigarret lighter doesn't work either.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

its a 96 plymouth neon

Re: Gauges don't light up

Probably blew a fuse. Check your fuses just inside the driver's side door, on the side of the dash. There is one for your interior lights.

Re: Gauges don't light up

I have the Same Prob with my GF 95 Neon.

every time I put a fuse in #12 it pops as soon as I pull on the headlight switch the first notch. (parklights) THe dash lights are Non functioning.

Everything else works ok but the dash lights, A/C control, heater control lights are all out as well.

Is there a common place for shorts in the dash of these cars?

Jason

Re: Gauges don't light up

Check to see if you have any exposed wire in underneath the dash. Did she ever have an aftermarket radio or alarm installed? Sometimes the place with shave off wires or tap into them and forget to retape or cover the wires.

Re: Gauges don't light up

no the car is completely stock right from the day it was bought, She is not an upgrader :-)

I am going to start to strip the dash out this weekend. Seems like the soldering problem should be dealt with before it starts to be a problem.??

Re: Gauges don't light up

I have my solution - trust me this is funny

So I got to working on the dash of my GF neon this weekend. Tried the headlight switch earlier and no go. Any how I noticed that the clock radio on the radio was REALLY dimm. could hardly see it in the dark, Lights on or off.

Anyhow yanked the radio and presto the dash light fuse never blew anymore. Again bearing in mind this was a factory Casette. So I figured no biggie replace the radio. Then the frugal part of me kicked in so I proceeded to strip the radio and see if I could see what was going on.

Once I started to losen the screws on the sides I heard clink clink clink... WTF?? Got it apart and found 7 cents inside, knocking around shorting the whole thing out. Funny but the radio and the casette still worked.... go figure.

Now you know where a 2 year old keeps his spare change :-)
Thanks for everyone who replied.
