'91 P10 G20 Cold Air Intakes
Well, pretty soon here I'm thinking of getting myself an intake.
What does everyone recommend? So far it looks like there's the JWT POP, and the Stillen intake. But from what I can tell they are basically a new filter and probably dont add as much hp as a CAI would. For CAI's there's the obvious Hot Shot. Does anyone know if the Hot Shot CAI works well with the P10's? And is it easy to install? Also.. theres the Place Racing (http://www.placeracing.com/) CAI. I was told by a friend of mine with a 200SX SE-R that the Place Racing would probably fit on the G20.. but I figured I'd ask you guys first, considering you have G20's and some of you might know if the place racing works or doesnt work on the P10. If I could just get a good recommendation on what intake is the best of the bunch, and how much they are that would be great! Thanks! |

I have the JWT POP/JWT ECU comb...I think it adds a good amount of power...they say 10HP...maybe...
The POP sounds really good...got that nice sucking sound and pulls in the upper RPM ranges. I was thinking about putting a CAI on, however, I was really worried about hydro-lock, so I stuck with the POP. I have noticed though (I Live in FL) that on really hot days...that POP is sucking some realllly hot air under the hood. When it cools off at night and into the winter months, I can tell a difference because the air is...well somewhat denser. However, there was a discussion not too long ago about how the CAI actaully makes the power. Its not really too much from the difference in intake temperature, but rather the resonating effect of the long tube. Keep in mind that the POP is probably a little easier to install...with the CAI (I think HS)??? you have to have a smaller-than-stock battery...guys with it out there correct me if im wrong. Also I'm not sure if they make one for the High port engine that we have on the 93.5 and prior...the intake piping is really low down there...itd be interesting to see.

Thanks for the info man.
As much as I would like a CAI I dont know if it will be to practical for where I live. Here in the suburbs of Minneapolis theres plenty of rain, and I dont want hydro lock. And theres always a lot of snow 9 months of the year.. so I dont think a CAI would get along to well with a lot of snow in it. How much is the JWT POP? Because the JWT POP and the Stillen seem to be almost the exact same thing.. and being the miser that I am I'm gonna buy whichever is cheaper.. unless one of the two auctually performs better. |

Uhh..I forgot how much I paid...i think only $100 cuz I bought the ECU along with it. You can probably pick one up for $150ish?...i would post in the classifieds, sometimes people have them leftover...used..etc...and there would be nothing wrong with the used one. I wouldnt buy this one from $tillen, its preatty much the exact thing, and everyone says stillen copied JWT on this one.

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but isn't there a difference between the venturi of the JWT Pop Charger vs Stillen??

Why don't you ask your friend with a 200SX SE-R? It is basically the same peice, perhaps he removes the lower end in bad weather or the winter.

you know, you wouldnt have to worry about hydro lock with a CAI if you just get a AEM bypass valve......
