is the belt broke? or just old? did it break while the car was running? if it did..then dont fix it. at least not yourself. ger a pro to do it. your engine might be a little fucked up..or a lot.

The timing Chain..or belt .. is supposed to be changed every 100,000km.
I had mine replaced when i first bought my car (152,000km). I would suggest you take it to a shop. It's a tricky job, I think they need to lift your engine to get it out. |

yep it broke at 75mph on the interstate! so i figure i have some valves bent. which im not even gonna try doing that myself. but i figured i could do the belt. and got a hanes manual but the damn nut wont budge on that lower pulley. so i guess im screwed either way.

To fix the values you have to take that cam out. So I would just take the motor to a shop and have them look at your values. when that happened to me it was just easier to get a new motor, cheaper too.

it's gonna suck a lot to fix that.

I think a ZC swap is in order
That will be cheaper than fixin' the mighty 1.5L - My Dad (the cheapest dude in the world) paid $1200+ to fix his Accord motor after he was too lazy to replace the timing belt and it broke (and bent some valves) at 125,000 miles. ZC's can be had for about $5-600 and a cheap ECU for $100 - To do it right (replace the timing belt, water pump, plug wires, good ECU etc..) might cost $1000. To answer your Q - A good strong impact wrench may be needed to break that bolt loose....or a big long pipe on your quality breaker bar. They are a bitch...and since D-series motors spin backwards, as they spin they tighten the bolt, which I think is why they are always so F%#@ing hard to break loose

hahahahaha welcome to my world three months ago. i broke about 5 different tools trying to get tht bolt loose. i ended up jamming a screw driver in the clutch and putting about a 5 foot breaker bar on it. good luck.

an update here for yah a few days later. i have a friend who wrecked his gsr integra (im guessing its the b 16 or 18?) anyway my cheap dad also said no way. so point is i talked to a friend who has a shop and it takes a 450 ft lb of torque to break that hoe! and my air socket thing only puts out 130 so hes gonna let me borrow his and i hope that will work. and i hate to go against my honda roots but im getting a 240 and swaping out for the sr20det from japan. but im keeping my honda and will always be a honda guy at heart

One of my budies had a 91 240sx Special edition.
I raced him and beat him only by a 1/4 car lengh. But they are pretty good cars. and if you did swap the SR20DET you would be HELLA fast. Anouther guy i know did that to his 240. Then stuck a turbo, intercooler, ect ect on it. and he was pulling some pretty crazy times on the track. Here's his web site http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/lieusr20det/ good luck with the 240 |

if your timing belt broke at 75mph you got more than just bent valves
holes in the pistons |

Ouch - they don't call them an interference motor for nothing
![]() Timing belts should be done every 80,000kms according to the maintainance schedules over here. Me? I'd take that as gospel and not take a chance. ![]() Easiest bet is to take it all to a mechanic as it's a pain to do without the right tools. |

i dunno you guys! jer's 88 accord just quit...and it was a busted timing belt. didn't want to mess with the vaccuum hose hell car anymore so sold it for $200. the guy who bought it threw a new timing belt and it and it started right up and runs like perfect.
i would replace the belt and see what happens. f*ck it. start it. so what if there is a bent valve...as it is you don't even know if it will start. then again..if you're worried and want to preserve the engine...change the belt and then tow it to a mechanic and let them check for bent vlaves. i've seen some wicked crazy stuff (cam gear slipping 20 degrees while car was running, no damaged happened...another crazy example) when it comes to honda...anything is possible. like i said, it just might be a busted belt and that's all i have my fingers crossed for ya.
