1999 vs 99.5
what are the differences between the 1999 an 1999.5 Pathfinders and why did Nissan make these changes during the year? Is one a better vehicle that the other?

Nissan made the 99.5 changes as are forerunner to the 2000 MY Engine change.
The 99.5 has the update Unibody, lastest outer body shell, and a few other misc. changes to prepare for the 3.5L VQ engine. I read that Nissan was planning to launch the 99.5 with VQ engine, but issues with the US based VQ production line caused them to launch the changes with the 3.3L still in place. If you are looking to buy a Pathfinder, find a 2000 or an 2001 with the 3.5L VQ, it is well worth it. |

Re: 1999 vs 99.5
The 3.5L didn't come out until the 2001 year. The 96-99 were rated at 168hp, the 99.5 - 2000 were rated at 170hp but still the same engine, no real change. Definitely go with a 2001 if you can get it.

thanks for all the info but I had to go with a '97. I looked at an '01 and was real close to buying it but I had to go with what my check book could handle.
