Has anyone done a SOHC Magnum head swap?
I was looking for info from someone with first hand knowledge of swapping a SOHC Magnum head onto a 1st Gen Neon SOHC.
I've heard that the exhaust ports are much bigger so you need to include the exhaust manifold in the swap. I've also heard that there is no EGR port so you have to change to a MP or AF/X computer that doesn't care about the EGR or the CEL will come on. I've been told that there are some issues with the non-magnum intake manifold bolting onto the Magnum head, but I don't know what they are. If someone knows more about the swap, could you please post. Thank You |

Re: Has anyone done a SOHC Magnum head swap?
The 01 head has a blockoff plate, so you can keep your EGR if you get one from that year. You may want to look into a mag header (stock or aftermarket) since the exhuast ports dont match up very well. The stock SOHC exhaust manifold will bolt up, but the holes will need to be slotted about 1/4" to 1/8".
To get the full effect of the mag swap, you will want the magnum cam, intake manifold, and exhaust manifold. Of course the intake will take some additional mods, like a 2000 and up starter and so on.
